Tadpoles

Tadpoles is a “pre-beginner” program designed to introduce younger children to formal sailing instruction. The Tadpoles program is designed to challenge the cognitive abilities of children 5-6 years of age and who are capable of functioning within a group.

March 15-19 Spring Break

Time: 9:00-12:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm, or loop and do full day

O’Pen Skiff (Bic) 

The O’Pen Bic class is for sailors who have completed Opti 2.  The O’Pen Bic class gives experienced sailors and Optimist racers an opportunity to further their education in a fun exciting boat.  Sailors will work on the basic points of sail while having fun and cruising around the bay!  Sailors receive on-shore chalk talks in preparation for on-the-water activities, and they are instructed on sail trim, boat speed and rules.

Opti 1

The goal of the Level 1 Optimist class is for each child to have a positive early experience on the water and while sailing. Building confidence, ensuring safety, demonstrating respect, courtesy to other and good teamwork are the primary goals. Novice sailors learn basic nomenclature, seamanship and sailing skills.

Opti 2

The Level 2 Optimist class is an extension of the Level 1 Optimist class that helps students develop skills while building knowledge and confidence. Level 2 sailors focus on refining boat control, boat handling skills and an introduction to sailing around a course.
